Exciting News: The Matthew Hackney Foundation is Becoming a CIO 🎉

We’ve got some important – and positive – news to share with our community. From 1st September, The Matthew Hackney Foundation will officially become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

Now, you might be wondering… what does that mean? Don’t worry – it’s not as complicated as it sounds, and most importantly, nothing will change in the support we provide to you.

Why are we making this change?

For many years, The Matthew Hackney Foundation has been a registered Charitable Trust. This has worked well, but as we’ve grown, we want to make sure our charity is set up in the best way possible for the future.

By becoming a CIO:

  • The charity will have its own legal identity – so it can hold property, sign contracts, and employ staff directly.

  • Our trustees will have better legal protection, which helps us attract and keep the right people on board.

  • We’ll be stronger and more sustainable for the future, which means we can keep supporting our community for years to come.

What does this mean for you?

Quite simply: nothing will change in the support you receive.

  • Our aims, values, and services will all stay the same.

  • You’ll still see the same friendly team.

  • All donations and funding will move across to the new charity smoothly.

The only difference is the way we’re registered with the Charity Commission. Our new details will be:

  • Name: The Matthew Hackney Foundation

  • Charity Commission number: 1208669

Want to know more?

We know changes like this can sound a bit technical, so to help, we’ve put together a handy FAQ sheet (attached below) with answers to the most common questions.

And of course, if you’d like to talk to someone directly, please reach out to:👉 Penny Hackney, Charity Manager, info@thematthewhackneyfoundation.co.uk

We’re really excited about this next chapter. While our structure may be changing, our heart and mission remain exactly the same – to carry forward Matthew’s legacy by making a difference in the lives of children and young people. 💙

Thank you, as always, for being part of The Matthew Hackney Foundation community.
