In a world that often feels disconnected, witnessing community spirit and kindness is truly uplifting. Recently, St. Mary’s School in Byfleet invited us to their assembly. There, we had the chance to talk about our charity and the vital importance of mental health and awareness. The students participated in a mufti day, wearing bright yellow to symbolize hope and positivity. Their vibrant outfits filled the room with energy, creating an inspiring happy atmosphere.
The assembly went beyond just promoting our charity. It became a celebration of the students' dedication and a testament to the significant role young people can play in nurturing their communities. We are thankful to St. Mary’s School for this opportunity and for cultivating a culture of kindness among their students.

A Special Thanks to Year 6 Students at Byfleet Primary School
We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the current Year 6 students at Byfleet Primary School. They participated in their annual 'Fiver' challenge in July 2024, while in year 5, turning a £5 note into something greater through teamwork and planning. The creativity and entrepreneurial spirit displayed by these students were nothing short of impressive.
Through their hard work, the Year 6 students raised a remarkable £172.61. This accomplishment not only showcases their ability to think critically and work collaboratively, but it also highlights the importance of teaching financial literacy at a young age. Their enthusiasm and determination inspire us all, and we are grateful for their contributions to our charity.
We attended their assembly this morning, where mental well being and their collaborative approach to fund raising and supporting each other was integral and heartfelt.
Community Support: The Plough Quiz Nights
Another significant supporter of our charity is The Plough, a local pub that has been hosting monthly quiz nights. We extend our gratitude for their continued support, which has helped raise a total of £499 for our cause, over the last 3 months. These quiz nights have become a popular event in the community, bringing people together for engaging and fun evenings while also supporting our mission.
The partnership between local businesses and community members plays a vital role in enhancing overall well-being. The Plough’s commitment to these events demonstrates how local establishments can be central to communal support and charity efforts.

Understanding Mental Health Awareness
As we celebrate community contributions, it is crucial to address mental health, especially among young people. Just today 'This Morning TV show' indicated that nearly 50% of young people face mental health challenges. This alarming statistic emphasizes the urgent need for greater awareness and support surrounding mental health issues.
Mental health difficulties can show up as anxiety, depression, or stress, often amplified by pressures from school and social media. It is vital for parents, educators, and community members to initiate conversations about mental health. By providing young people with the tools and resources to navigate their emotions, we can help them feel less isolated. Early support is key to ensure that mental health issues do not reach crisis point.
YoungMinds, a national charity whose vision is 'To make sure all young people can get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what.' shares some alarming statistics here.
By promoting mental health awareness, we can foster an environment where young people feel comfortable expressing themselves and seeking help when necessary. Initiatives like those at St. Mary’s School and Byfleet Primary School are vital steps, encouraging students to engage openly with their feelings and support one another.
Moving Forward Together
The recent events at St. Mary’s School and Byfleet Primary School, along with the support from The Plough, demonstrate the powerful impact of community kindness. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with young individuals and share our mission, while also appreciating the unwavering support from local businesses and members of the community.
As we look ahead, let us prioritize mental health awareness and support for our youth. Together, we can create a future filled with kindness, understanding, and compassion. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed to our charity efforts. Let’s continue to nurture the spirit of community together!
