Buy Matt a Pint

Buy a pint for Matt for his 23rd Birthday

Unbelievably, it is 10 years since Richard and Penny lost their beloved son Matthew the day before his 13th birthday. After such a tragic event,  Richard, Penny and their daughter Elizabeth felt they wanted to do something positive moving forward. They set up a foundation in his name, The Matthew Hackney Foundation.  This foundation relies on welcome donations to send counsellors into schools to help children who are struggling with everyday living.

These counsellors bring comfort and help to children in the Surrey area and help them to make sense of the world around them, enabling them to find clarity and well-being; mental health is so important.

The world being what it is right now, we can’t get together and raise a glass for the 10th anniversary of Matthew’s passing. With this in mind we would love everyone to donate to our latest fundraiser, “ Buy a pint for Matt”.

So that we can continue the great  work the foundation is doing we are fundraising in a different way.  This will enable us to continue supporting children and young people through counselling, predominantly in their school environment.  £400 will enable us to support children (or young people) for 10 weekly counselling sessions.

In this fast paced, ever changing world, the pressures on our children & young people and their care givers are dynamic, diverse and fast-paced. We believe that if we can help those children & young people in need with their mental well-being and resilience, they will have better life chances and be able to grow and develop into the best version of themselves. Approximately 1 in 10 children have a diagnosable mental health disorder, which means that approximately 3 children in every classroom need our help 75% of children with a diagnosable mental health condition do not have access to the help they need.  A quarter of children that are  referred to the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) are turned away and others can wait  up to 10 months or more for appropriate help.

We know that if we can assist early we can help to stop mental health problems becoming more serious.  This also impacts positively with Children's future mental  wellbeing, giving them the ability to cope if they experience difficulties.

Please join us in raising a virtual glass to Matt for his birthday, on the 10th anniversary of his death. virginmoneygiving.com/fund/Buyapintformatt
