What a night! With hangovers cured, it’s time to reflect on this years’ charity ball!
What a fantastic turn out! Thank you to everyone who attended The Ball of The Decade last Saturday. We are extremely grateful for all 175 of you! We hope that you had a wonderful evening. We raised a total of…
This years’ ball was the best yet! The raffle and lucky envelopes were a roaring success. We hope that all the winners enjoy their prizes! Not to mention the auction. We had some fantastic items up for auction this year. With many bidding wars, the auction was amazing to watch! We cannot thank everyone enough for donating on the night. All the money we raised is going towards a better future for children in your local area.
We had a fantastic band perform on the night. Faking It performed an amazing variety of music that kept the party going late into the night. I for one can vouch for the packed dancefloor and brilliant tunes. My feet still hurt from all the dancing!
Aside from the dance floor, One4Luck arranged an array of exciting casino games include a roulette wheel and card table. I for one can vouch for how fun and exciting this was. It was a great way to mingle, while also battling for prizes!
We also want to thank Mark Lewis, our photographer on the night. He did a fantastic job of taking photos of all the guests throughout the evening. Here a few of the snaps that he took:
The ball was held at The Guildford Harbour Hotel. It was a beautiful venue, and the staff did an amazing job of keeping everyone fed and watered throughout the evening. The food was spectacular. The three courses were wonderfully presented and were all perfect, not to mention it helped sober us all up before partying the night away. Special thanks go to the bar staff who worked tirelessly to maintain a good flow of guests at the bar.
We also want to say a huge thank you to the coach drivers. They took around 90+ passengers to and from the venue (and put up with a lot of drunken singing on the way home).
The Ball of a Decade and its impact
It is important to understand why we hold events like our annual charity ball. Here are just a few facts from The Children’s Society:
1 in 6 children ages 5 to 6 are likely to have a mental health problem.
In the last three years, the likelihood of young people having a mental health problem has increased in 50%.
52% of 17–23-year-olds have experienced a deterioration in their mental health in the last 5 years.
34% of those who get referred to NHS services are not accepted for treatment.
More than two thirds of young people do not want mental health support through the NHS.
50% of all mental health problems start by the age of 14.
Since last years’ ball we have been very busy. Here are some of our recent achievements:
Our counsellors have helped more than 300 children in approximately 1800 counselling sessions within schools and private practice.
We now support 10 more schools in Surrey. Totalling in 35 schools, both primary and secondary.
We are very proud of our counsellors and many volunteers. They share our passion for supporting the mental health of children and young people and work extremely hard to help as many young people as early as possible in order to support their growth both now, and in the future.
Our sponsors and donators
None of this would be possible without our sponsors and donators. The money that we receive helps us to continue the amazing work that we do. We want to give a huge shoutout to our sponsors and donators who continue to support our growth as a charity. Please watch this fantastic thank you video:
We cannot thank everyone enough for attending our annual charity ball this year. It means the world to us that so many of you want to help us commemorate Matthew and the amazing boy that he was. Your kind donations and continued support is helping so many children and young people in your community.
We hope to see you all next year!
